The first printer in
Copenhagen was Gotfred of Ghemen. He published books in Latin and
Danish between 1493 and 1510. In 1495 he printed the Danish Rhymed
Chronicle, in which the kings of Denmark tell the story of their
lives. This edition ends with the reign of Christian I who died in
1481.
The words "rim krønike 500 år" are printed In lavender
letters in the text to indicate that
the stamp was issued to commemorate the 500th anniversary of
the printed edition of the Chronicle.
