In 1288 one of the
earliest and most important Croatian legal documents was issued. It
was written in the Glagolitic alphabet, and has several major
differences from other legal codes of the time. It did not allow
torture during legal proceedings, and protected human rights including
those of women. Among the Slav Codes only the Rus' Code "Pravda" is
slightly older (1282). The stamp was issued in 1988, the 700
anniversary of the Code.
