Gospels of St. Medard of Soissons

Up Catalog

The image of the Eagle, the symbol of  St. John the Evangelist is from the Gospels attributed to St. Medard of Soissons, early 9th century. St. Medard died in 561. I do not know how to reconcile the attribution with the date of death. The figure under the Eagle is identified as Charlemagne, Holy Roman Emperor (800-814).
