Joćo
Freire was a Portuguese cartographer. He painted a manuscript atlas in
1546, and an undated chart of west Africa. The stamps shows a part of
western Africa, including Sćo Jorge da Mina Fort, the Mine of Saint
George, an important Portuguese factory near the mouth of the Volta
River.
