The first book printed in
Hungary, the Chronica de Gestis Hungarorum (Hungarian
Illuminated Chronicle), records events in Hungary and eastern
Europe during the reign of Louis the Great (1342-1382). In it older
chronicles and histories have been combined and elaborated. It is
preserved in the National Szechenyi Library in Budapest, Hungary.
The stamp was designed by Andor Andras, and issued
September 30, 2003.
