Jost Bürgi
(1552 - 1632) [J. Byrgius] became Rudolf II's (1552 - 1612)
watchmaker in 1604. In 1610 he compiled logarithmic tables which Johannes
Kepler himself relied on. He also made astronomical instruments,
sundials and armillary spheres.
Åkerman ~ 1759
Anders Åkerman (1721-1778) was the father
of globemaking in Sweden, producing his first globes in 1759. The
celestial globe was made by Anders Åkerman in 1759. Note the
constellation Reindeer in the upper right corner of the stamp.
