A common error on map stamps with ships on them is to forget that the wind that fills the sail blows from behind the ship. The same wind that fills the sails also blows any flags flying from the masts. So they must also be blown forward. It appears that on this stamp the flag is being blown toward the rear, and therefore is an error.
