Dante’s Divine Comedy was
written between 1307 and 1321 in Italian. The first printings of the
work were made in 1472. Johann Numeister of Mainz and Evangelista
Angelini of Trovi printed the Comedy on April 11, 1472 in Foligno.
Fredrico Conti printed and edition on July 18, 1472 in Jesi. And an
edition was also printed in 1472 in Mantua.
To mark the 500th anniversary of the first editions
Italy issued a set of three stamps showing the title pages of the
three editions.
