The miniature sheet was
issued in 1992 to call attention to national treasures. Clockwise from
the upper left: a Hispanic history of Mexico written by Mariano Veitia
in the eighteenth century; a massive eighteenth century pictorial
record of the diocese of Trujillo by Bishop Baltasar Jaime Martinez
Companon; the Chess Book, part of an effort by King Alfonso X
to gather all the knowledge of his time, even recreational knowledge;
and a page from the Florentine Codex, 1575-1577, compiled by Father
Bernardin de Sagahun dealing with botany and the medical use of
plants.
