The Final Problem (1893)

     The "Final Problem" was published in 1893 and deals with events in 1891. Doyle wanted to end the Holmes stories and go on to other things, but the public would not allow it, so eight years later the series of Holmes stories was resumed with The Hound of the Baskervilles.
