Malaya 83

     The stamp, issued in 1957, displays a map of the Federation of Malaya at the time it achieved independence. Two islands belonging to the Federation's territory are missing: Langkwai, located about 60 miles off the west coast at about the level of the border between Malaya and Siam (Thailand), and Tioman, about 100 miles off the east coast at about the level of the border between Pahang and Jahore.
