In 1933, 1945 and 1946 the Vatican City
issued 6 special delivery stamps with an view from the east of Stato
della Citta del Vanticano, “the State of the Vatican City” based on an
engraving by Ferdinand Shirnbock (1859-1930). Shirnbock’s name appears
in the lower right corner of the border of the city plan. The Papal
Arms, the Mitre and Keys, also appear on the stamp, in the upper right
corner. The stamp shown is surcharged 6 lira over 3.59 lira,
surcharged with the
new value and bars in black.
