Columbus Soliciting the Aid of Isabella
In this scene Columbus is
explaining to Isabella his plan to sail to the Indies, hoping for her
financial support for the expedition. On the table lies a map
which he used to make his plans clear. The design for the stamp is
based on a painting by Vaczlav Van Brozik which was deaccessioned from
the Metropolitan Museum and now hangs in the Hotel Richelieu in Murray
Bay, Canada.
