In 1970-1971 the Instituto Geológico y Minero de España
established a plan for systemantic geologic cartography called Plan
Magna. Its program is to produce a National Geologic Map. In the 30
years of its existence Plan Magna almost 200 geologists, from 20
engineering companies, 9 geology faculties in addition to its own
personal have worked on the project. The approximate cost of the
project is €100 million.
The souvenir, issued in 2003, shows a representative
page of the National Geologic Map.
