John Calvin (1509-1564)
and Theodore Beza (1519-1605) were close friends and colleaagues as
reformed theologians at the University of Geneva. Beza was a professor
of Greek and gave Codex Beaza (D), a major manuscript of the
"Received Text" of the New Testament to Cambridge University.
The stamp was issued in 1959 to commemorate the 400th
anniversary of the founding of the University of Geneva by John Calvin
in 1559.
