Andorra is a small
principality on the border between Spain and Farnce. In 1278 the
Bishop of Seo de Urgel and the Counts of Foix ruled Andorra as a
condominium (the counts have been replaced by the French president.)
In 1933 a constitution was adopted and power was transferred to the
Andorran General Council.
The Manual Digest was written by Anton Fiter y
Rossell in 1748 in order to preserve the traditions of his homeland.
The book contains history, laws, religion, as well as customs, manners
and dress. The book is still a record of the Andorran way of
life, and many of the customs continue to be practiced.
