The stamp with the map Somaliland Protectorate 92 is one of five in
two issues with the same design in 1938 and 1942. It was prepared by
H. W. Claxton, who was the Treasurer of Somaliland at that time.
Barbera, the capital of the Protectorate, and Aden, across the Gulf of
Aden, on the coast of Arabia, are the only locations designated by
name.
This stamp was issued in 1938. In 1941 the Italians
seized quanitities of the issue, and Britain demonetized all the
stamps with a semi-profile of the king, and reissued the stamps with a
full face portrait in 1942.
