Argentina 719
The stamp, issued to
acknowledge the national census of 1960, shows the territory claimed by
Argentina. The Falkland Islands are claimed by both Argentina and
Great Britain. The Antarctic Environmental Protocol signed by 27
countries including Argentina, defers the question of claims to
Antarctic territory made by some, but not recognized by others.
The Argentine Antarctic claim, consisting of the
Antarctic Peninsula and a triangular section extending to the South
Pole between the meridians 25º West and 74º West and the parallel 60º
South latitude is overlapped by claim asserted by Chile (53°W to 90°W)
and Great Britain (20°W to 80°W).
