South Viet Nam
Viet Nam became an
Associated State of the French Union in 1949. In 1954 the Viet Minh
took control of northern Viet Nam, and the Republic of South Viet Nam
was established in 1955. The two Viet Nams fought until they were
reunited under Communist control in 1976.
North Viet Nam
The map shows a
