In 2004 Greenland issued a single stamp to
commemorater the 50th anniversary of the first regularly scheduled
commercial trans-polar flight. Airliners from the Scandinavian
Airlines took off from Copenhagen and Los Angeles at the same time on
November 15, 1954, and met over Canada. The flight from Los Angeles to
Copenhagen in a DC-6B took just over 28 hours which included two fuel
stops. The stamp design features a map of the flight path. Both
Copenhagen and Los Angeles are indicated on the map. Kangerlussuaq,
Greenland is also indentified.
