     The map shows the western hemisphere with Paraguay in a darker shade. The shape of Paraguay included the Chaco which Paraguay acquired in August 1939. The stamp was issued in November to celebrate the New York World's Fair. On the map the air route from Ascunción to New York is shown. The route includes Ascunción, Rio De Janeiro, Recife and Belem, Brazil, Victoria de las Tunas, Cuba, Miami and Jacksonville, Florida, Charleston, South Carolina, Washington, D.C., and New York. (The cities in italics are not named on the stamp.)
