Turks and Caicos 294
The Turks and Caicos Islands issued a set of
four stamps in 1974 to commemorate the centenary of the Universal
Postal Union founded in 1874. One of the stamps has a map design plus
the picture of a local mail sloop, and in the upper corner the logo of
the UPU
The emblem is based on the UPU monument at the Union's
headquarters in Berne, Switzerland. The logo appeared for the first
time in 1951, and was adopted as the official logo in 1967.
