Spain issued a souvenir sheet in 1994 to highlight the National Philatelic Exposition in 1994, held at Las Palmas on the island of Grand Canary. The sheet features a map of the island with a  number of towns identified, the coat of arms of the city of Las Palmas, which is the capital both of the island, and the province, and, on the stamp, a picture of the façade of the Cathedral of St. Ann, which was begun in about 1500. The motto on the coat of arms is Segura Tiene La Palma, La Palma is Secure.
