Alaskan Highway
The
Alaskan Highway was built in 1942 in response to the Japanese attack
on Pearl Harbor. It was known as the Alaska-Canadian Military Highway,
or the Alcan Highway. It extends from Dawson Creek, British Columbia
to Delta Junction, Alaska, 1520 miles. The Canadian part of the
Highway was turned over to Canada in 1946 and opened to the public in
1948.
