Afghanistan observed the 10th anniversary of the United Nations by
issuing a set of two postage stamps. The lowervalue (Scott No. 427)
has a globe with a map centred on the Indian Ocean. The map shows
India.
What appears to be Ceylon is actually the period after the U for
"United." The Mediterranean Sea is shown on the right side of the map, and the
Arabian peninsula is in a shadow under the "N" inscribed on the globe.
On the high value the map is the UN emblem but somewhat distorted.
On both stamps "ANV" is
incorrect as an abbreviation for Aniversarie. It should be
ANIV.
