The Netherlands issued two stamps in 1982
with designs of fortress plans. The low value has a section of the
ground plan of the fortress at Enkhuizen on the Zuider Zee, built
between 1590 and 1600 by the military engineer Adriaen Anthoenisz van
Alkmaar. The design is based on a manuscript dating from the end of
the 18th century.
The design on the high value is part of the
ground plan of the fortress at Coevorden, after it was rebuilt about
1680-1685 by Menno Baron van Coehoorn. The design is based on a sketch
drawn about the year 1750, now in a private collection.
