The stamp issued in 1990 by the Republic of
South Africa shows a picture of the dam on Lake Cahora Bassa, which is
shown at the upper right corner of the stamp in Mozambique. The dam
has a capacity of 14,000 MW and supplies electricity to Zimbabwe,
Zambia, the Republic of South Africa and South West Africa (now
Namibia). The legend at the bottom of the stamp states the purpose of
the stamp, to commemorate the Cahora Bassa Hydro-electric scheme. Part
of an unidentified country in the upper right corner and colored
yellow is Malawi.
